A Personal Note from Pastor's Pen - The Unborn

Every child in the womb of their mother has a universal value. The value of that baby is so much more than we could ever calculate, because the God of the universe laid down his life so that child could have everlasting life. I believe that we all value life, but the issue that many differ on is when is an unborn child a living soul? Every person develops their personal answer to this question based upon their own feelings and what they have heard from others. However, I would  challenge every person not to gain their viewpoints from man alone (including your own heart), but that we would allow God’s Word to help us understand this question. In Jeremiah 1:5, God reveals his  feelings on a child in the womb, and before that child’s conception. God says, Before I formed thee in the belly I knew thee; and before thou camest forth out of the womb I sanctified thee, and I ordained thee a prophet unto the nations. Before Jeremiah was even in the womb of his mother, God had designed him in Heaven, created his DNA, gifted him and called him to a special work. From the very    beginning, at the time of fertilization, Jeremiah was a unique person. To take his life while he was in the womb, would have been to rob the world of his God given gift to this world. At that point, Jeremiah didn't have a voice. Countless children today live inside the womb of their mother and are yet to have a voice as well. Therefore, we need to lend them ours. Speaking for them is their great need. In Matthew 22:39, we are told to love our neighbor as ourselves. What a great commandment God gives us to understand the sanctity of life. I am so glad my mother choose to deliver me. Now I can love the unborn child as I would want to be loved, and that is by being their advocate. God has always had a special place in His plans for the innocent. May we as well, as we endeavor to help and love the most innocent of all, the unborn child.
